Phase D : Technology Architecture – TOGAF

The Technology Architecture (Phase D)
This step of ADM looks at the technology architecture and is the last pillar of the BDAT architectures (Business, Data, Application & Technology).
The technology architecture looks at the underlying and enabler of the architecture if comprises of data centers, servers, networks, cloud architecture …etc.

Inputs
The inputs of this phase are:
- External reference materials.
- Product information and candidate products.
- Request for Architecture Work (optional) (Prelim Phase).
- Capability assessment (Phase A).
- Communication plan (Phase A).
- Organization Model for Enterprise Architecture (Prelim Phase).
- Tailored Architecture Framework (Prelim Phase).
- Technology principles (TOGAF specification Chapter 20).
- Approved Statement of Architecture Work (Phase A).
- Architecture vision (Phase A).
- Architecture Repository
- Draft architecture documents and draft requirements (Phase B & C).
- Business, data, and application components of an architecture roadmap (Phase B & C).
Steps
The steps included in this phase are:
- Select reference models, viewpoints, and tools.
- Develop a baseline technology architecture description.
- Develop target technology architecture description.
- Perform a gap analysis.
- Define candidate roadmap components.
- Resolve impacts across the architecture landscape.
Outputs
At the end of this phase, the following outputs are generated:
- Refined Phase A Deliverables.
- Draft architecture definition document
- Baseline technology architecture v1.0 (detailed)
- Target technology architecture v1.0 (detailed)
- Draft architecture requirements specification – Gap Analysis.
- Technology architecture components of an architecture roadmap.
